The call to country living grows louder and more urgent. It is not merely a lifestyle preference; it is a divine preparation. Now more than ever, it is vital to prioritize sustainability. Whether you are already in the country or preparing to move, your focus must be on building a life that can sustain you and your family—physically, spiritually, and practically.

Get to the country! Get to the country! The importance cannot be overstated. God is giving His people the wisdom and the time to prepare, but that time will not remain open indefinitely. This year must be a year of action—of moving forward with determination and trust in God's guidance.
Sustainability Must Be Your Priority
Sustainability means having the ability to grow your own food, secure clean water, manage your energy, and provide for your family's basic needs independently of unstable systems.
It means living lightly on the land, stewarding it wisely, and ensuring you are not reliant on conveniences that may soon be unavailable.
It means being prepared for the times ahead, building a simple, peaceful life rooted in God's principles.
Wherever you are, or wherever you are planning to go, make absolutely sure that the place is sustainable. Ask yourself:
Can I grow my food here?
Can I access clean water?
Can I build a peaceful, God-centered home?
If the answer is yes, move forward boldly. If not, seek the Lord’s guidance to find where you need to be.
Biblical Encouragement for Country Living
The Bible gives clear counsel on the blessings of country living. One powerful encouragement comes from Isaiah 32:18 (KJV):
“And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”— Isaiah 32:18, KJV
God desires for His people to dwell securely, in peace, away from the chaos and confusion that increasingly dominate the cities and worldly environments. Country living provides that safe, quiet resting place, where faith can flourish and physical needs can be tended with dignity.
Ellen G. White’s Counsel on Country Living
Ellen G. White, God's messenger for these last days, speaks urgently on the importance of country living:
“Get out of the cities as soon as possible, and purchase a little piece of land where you can have a garden, where your children can watch the flowers growing and learn from them lessons of simplicity and purity.”— Ellen G. White, Selected Messages, Book 2, p. 356
This is not merely advice; it is a warning, born of love. The city life is becoming increasingly dangerous, distracting, and spiritually degrading. In the country, we are given space to grow spiritually and physically, depending more directly on God and the land He created.
Conclusion: Move Forward in Faith
The time is short. Get to the country! Get to the country! But do not just relocate—establish yourself sustainably. God is calling His people to places where they can thrive spiritually and survive physically through His provision.
Wherever you go, whatever you do this year, let sustainability be your goal. Build, plant, and prepare, for the times ahead will require wisdom, faith, and resilience. And through it all, remember: “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:24, KJV.
Trust in God's leading. Prepare wisely. Set your feet on solid ground. The country is calling—answer with courage and faith.
