How to Make a Fire Starter

• Materials: Cotton balls, petroleum jelly, cardboard egg cartons, sawdust, or dryer lint.

• Steps:

  1. Coat cotton balls in petroleum jelly (or mix sawdust with melted candle wax).

  2. Place in egg carton compartments and let cool.

  3. Break off pieces when needed and light them. They burn for several minutes—long enough to start a fire.
