When you need warmth or a way to cook, fire is essential. Matches and lighters can run out, but you can prepare DIY fire starters from common household items.

How to Make a Fire Starter
Materials: Cotton balls, petroleum jelly, cardboard egg cartons, sawdust, or dryer lint.
Steps:
Coat cotton balls in petroleum jelly (or mix sawdust with melted candle wax).
Place in egg carton compartments and let cool.
Break off pieces when needed and light them. They burn for several minutes—long enough to start a fire.

Spiritual Lesson
Just as fire warms and sustains, the Holy Spirit ignites our hearts with zeal for God.
“For our God is a consuming fire.” – Hebrews 12:29, KJV
Ellen G. White writes:
“The Spirit awaits our demand and reception. Christ is ready to impart the Holy Spirit to everyone who will seek Him.” (The Desire of Ages, p. 672)
As sparks ignite into flame, so our small prayers kindle into holy passion when God’s Spirit moves.
Closing Thought
A fire starter brings heat in the wilderness, but the greatest fire we need is the fire of the Holy Spirit, burning away sin and lighting our path.
