How to Build a Simple Solar Cooker
Materials Needed: A cardboard box, aluminum foil, clear plastic wrap or glass, black pot.
Steps:
Line the inside of the box with aluminum foil to reflect sunlight.
Place a black cooking pot inside (absorbs heat).
Cover with plastic wrap or glass to trap heat.
Position box facing the sun and adjust angles for maximum heat.
Use: Works best for boiling, baking, or slow cooking on clear sunny days.
Spiritual Lessons from the Sun
The sun’s rays can transform simple ingredients into nourishing food, just as Christ, the Sun of Righteousness, transforms our lives:
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.” – Malachi 4:2, KJV
Ellen White reminds us that sunlight is one of God’s natural remedies:
“Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power—these are the true remedies.” (The Ministry of Healing, p. 127)
A solar cooker shows how God has provided all we need in nature. Instead of relying on man-made fuel, we can harness His creation to meet our needs.
Closing Thought
A solar cooker is more than a survival tool—it is a testimony of God’s abundant provision. As the sun cooks our food, let Christ’s light and warmth prepare our souls for eternal life.
